This 2026 Lunar Year of the Horse £5 is the latest £5 coin celebrating the Chinese New Year. The Chinese zodiac features a 12-year cycle of animals in the following order: Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Goat, Monkey, Rooster, Dog, and Pig. Each year in the cycle is represented by one of these animals, and people born in a specific year are said to inherit the characteristics of that animal.
The reverse of the coin features a design William Webb’s that depicts the horse beneath a clock striking 12, a peak time of yang energy in traditional Chinese philosophy. The coin’s packaging artfully reflects Chinese culture.

The 2026 Lunar Year of the Horse £5 is available as a £5 Brilliant Uncirculated Coin, 1oz Silver Proof Coin (Limited Edition 3,288), 1/40th oz Gold Proof Coin (Minted Edition 1,008), 5oz Silver Proof Coin (Limited Edition 188), 1/4oz Gold Proof Coin (Limited Edition 328), 1oz Gold Proof Coin (Limited Edition 688) and 5oz Gold Proof Coin (Limited Edition 88).
